My First Passport
Even though I didn't travel until 1999, my parents applied for a passport in 1996. We may have moved to the United Kingdom because my mom was working for MCI and they were considering a merger with British Telecom at the time. While this never materialized, my mom flew back and forth to the UK many times in this period. In 1999, we travelled to London (and Paris). Then, the next year, we travelled to Italy. The passport expired in 2001 and I was without a valid travel document of any sort until 2004.
